Is a consultation right for you?

This is for you if:

  • You feel rushed at your GP appointments and leave with more questions than answers
  • You’ve been offered HRT and don’t fully understand the options or the trade-offs
  • You’re overwhelmed by conflicting information online
  • You want a second opinion from a regulated UK pharmacist before you make a decision
  • You’re in your 50s, 60s, 70s and want practical guidance for this stage of life
  • You’re early in perimenopause and want to understand what’s coming
  • You’re caring for someone going through menopause and want to help her well

You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong. Most of the women I speak with aren’t sure either. That’s what the consultation is for.

  • A clear plan for how to get the most from your next GP appointment
  • A written summary of your call, sent to you within 48 hours

Who you’ll be talking to

Elizabeth Roddick FRPharmS, UK pharmacist

Elizabeth Roddick has spent over 50 years as a community pharmacist in Glasgow. She’s a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (No. 2017913), and a regular voice on BBC Scotland and RNIB Connect Radio. She’s the author of four books, including the bestselling Call the Pharmacist. Her speciality is what most GPs don’t have time for: real conversations about menopause, HRT, and quality of life for women over 50.

Common questions

We’ll start by talking about what’s brought you here — your symptoms, what you’ve tried, what your GP has said. Then I’ll work through your specific situation: what the evidence says about your options, what to think about with HRT if it’s relevant, what supplements or lifestyle changes might help, and how to make the most of your next GP appointment. You’ll have plenty of time to ask the questions you don’t get to ask elsewhere. After the call, I’ll send you a written summary so you can refer back.

This consultation is for guidance and information, not prescribing. I’ll discuss your options, explain what each involves, and help you understand the choices. If prescribing becomes relevant during your call, I’ll talk you through what that would look like and how to access it.

No — and it’s not meant to be. Think of it as a second voice. Your GP has eight to ten minutes. I have an hour. That’s the difference. Many women use a consultation with me to prepare for a GP appointment, understand a recent diagnosis, or feel more confident about decisions they’re already making.

Yes. Many of the women I speak with aren’t sure either. We’ll work through what you’re feeling and what’s likely going on. I won’t give you a clinical diagnosis — that’s your GP’s job — but I can help you understand what’s worth investigating and what’s probably part of this stage of life.

That’s very common. We’ll go over how it’s working, whether your dose feels right, what side effects (if any) you’re experiencing, and whether there are options worth discussing with your GP. Many women find their HRT prescription was set years ago and never reviewed — a consultation is a good chance to think about whether it still suits you.

Yes. Many women bring someone else with them. It can help to have another person hearing the information, especially if you’re making decisions afterwards.

Nothing complicated. If you have recent prescription details, blood test results, or notes from a GP appointment, have them to hand. Before we start, write down your top three questions or concerns — that helps us use the time well.

Within 48 hours you’ll receive a written summary covering what we talked about, what I suggested, and any next steps to consider. If you’d like to revisit something later, you can book a 30-minute follow-up.

Yes. Our conversation is private and confidential. Your written summary is sent only to you. I’m registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (No. 2017913) and follow professional confidentiality standards.

These consultations are designed for UK women, because the guidance is grounded in UK healthcare context — NHS pathways, MHRA-approved HRT, UK supplement availability. If you’re outside the UK and still want to book, please contact me first. Some conversation is still useful, but a lot of the practical advice may not apply where you live.

The free 15-minute discovery call exists for exactly this reason. Book it. We’ll talk briefly. You’ll know.
